About Chronicle
Chronicle Technology was founded in 1996 to serve the integrated circuit design market with its ever-increasing demand for per-capita transistor consumption. We have been in business continuously for nearly 13 years with steady, monotonically-increasing revenue and headcount growth. We serve commercial and military/aerospace markets in roughly equal proportions; significantly, our client list includes a number of major semiconductor companies who entrust us to develop their products. Our chief mission, however, is to enable systems houses to realize the benefits of RF, analog, and mixed-signal ASIC technology without having to make the substantial investments in tools, talent, and infrastructure this implies. We’ve successfully completed well over a hundred design projects.
Chronicle is privately held and headquartered in Newport Beach, California and located physically next to the Jazz semiconductor wafer manufacturing facility. We also maintain a remote design office in Colorado Springs, Colorado. We are part of an active and vibrant communications semiconductor engineering community in southern California, still the world’s nexus for such products.
Heritage
RFIC Design Experience Chronicle and its engineers have a good understanding of high-frequency design, from electromagnetic effects through substrate coupling mechanisms, and from impedance control through device physics.
Diversity of Experience In addition to Chronicle’s direct experience in RF integrated circuit design at microwave frequencies, our projects span a broad range of requirements and applications. This breadth and depth of experience makes Chronicle well suited to technical solutions of nearly any IC design, whether through clever and innovative circuitry or matching the process to the product. Our product base includes many imaging, logic, and mixed-signal chips.
Device Engineering Unique among contemporary design organizations, Chronicle has strong roots in semiconductor physics to complement traditional circuit design skills. This accounts for our success with what would otherwise be intractable physical problems in RF and optical domains.
Customers Chronicle’s international customer base includes some of the most distinguished and respected names in the business.
Track Record Chronicle develops integrated circuits for both military/aerospace and commercial/consumer markets, with about the same number of projects in each. The former emphasizes performance and tight flow-down of system requirements, while the latter emphasizes ramping to production volumes and reliability as a supplier. Consumer products can be especially unforgiving when it comes to realizing revenue. Accordingly, we have come to expect of ourselves excellence in both. We have an outstanding record of first pass success, on-time delivery, and customer satisfaction through collaboration.
Design Methodology. Integrated circuit design can be an unforgiving pursuit, as it requires every aspect to be in perfect alignment. Chronicle follows a disciplined approach across five internal project phases and 11 major milestones with documentation deliverables to help ensure first-pass success. We will share the details at an appropriate future time, but can indicate that our internal systems are consistent with the ISO9000-2000 quality standard.
